The first time I heard this folk duo was on Swedish television about a month ago. Composed of sisters Johanna and Clara, First Aid Kit is now all I can listen to. After only hearing The Lion's Roar I could tell right away that these girls were worth keeping an eye (or ear) on. Instantly drawn to their innocent yet mature essence I couldn't help but fall in love with their unique sound. In every song their voices melt together incredibly effortlessly and listening to their hymns that have a folky and acoustic flavor about them is always a delightful experience.
So about a week after getting familiar with First Aid Kit I receive a text from my always-up-to-date-with-folk-music friend: "Hey, did you know that First Aid Kit is performing at Klubi on the 7th day?" And my response was something along the lines of: "OMG OMG OMFG, WE'RE SO TOTALLY GONNA GO AND LISTEN TO THEM!" So here I am happy as a hippo after having seen them live. Too bad Johanna had lost her voice and couldn't sing, I really would've loved to hear them sing together! Nonetheless they were amazing live (which many bands unfortunately have the tendency of not being) and as soon as I get the chance to see them again, I'll be the first one to buy a ticket! Lets just hope next time they'll be able to perform as what they really are, which is two sisters with amazing voices singing their heart out. Do watch the video below to see how amazing they are!
